I made a few promises earlier this year.
1. That I would keep all my bank statements, receipts and accounts in order, so that when TAX TIME loomed I only needed to spend an hour or two and it would all be organised.
Well here it is – now early August and I still haven’t done anything. I have pulled the folders out and walk past them three times a day – telling myself – I am going to sort those papers out ready for the accountant today! and so it has been, for the past 3 weeks.
It seems I will make any excuse! Even sitting at the laptop writing about it – when I could be doing it.
It is a long weekend here in the Northern Territory and the weather is glorious. 13 degrees overnight and about 30 during the day. Vivid blue skies so clear it seems as if you can see forever and ever.
The Olympics are on the TV and there are over 100 people competing in an Ultra Challenge at the Katherine Gorge – 100 kms of swimming, bike riding, canoeing and running. They will go past my house, just three doors away from the magnificent Katherine River this afternoon. Lets hope there are not any crocodiles around. They have pulled 4 huge saltwater crocs out of the river this year. Three very large crocs south of the town and a 4 metre female up river of the town! Aggghhhhhh – she had to swim right past my place, past the town, under three bridges and over two weirs to get there. The crocs are a protected species and are relocated to various crocodile farms around the NT.
A team of girls/ladies from my boot camp-group are competing in the Ultra Challenge. I am not quite that fit yet…and most likely never will be, but I enjoy the challenges of trying to keep up a modicum of fitness at the age of 56! .
It hurts – but I like it and can now run/shuffle/walk for a two or three kilometres – I could not go 100 metres when I started out three months ago, so am quite proud of myself. Just have to keep it up – scary thoughts if this is supposed to be a lifelong thing!
Meeting new people is a highlight – I am in awe of the young Mum’s who work full time, shuffle their children to and from sports events, maintain their homes and manage to fit in some exercise as well! I salute you all!
Well that took me right off track. Off to rehearsals for ‘Stars on Stage’ and I have still managed to avoid sorting out my tax!
